.............RESEARCH METHODOLOGY & GEOSTATISTICS.............

Earth's reasearch  produce a huge volume of data that must be transformed into conceptual models of geological processes.

  RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

If you are planning to do doctoral research you need to use valid approaches and tools, to gather your data and make sense of your results. The first two mandatory steps in your research are:

  1. Clearly define a topic and develop a question that the research should answer
  2. Finding information sources and reviewing the scientific literature

The research methodology include a plan, which must be designed by researcher to answer to question, and a strategy used to implement that plan.

Data collection and data analysis are research methods that can be applied to find the right answer to many geological research questions. The design of investigation networks are essential to obtain representative data for the investigated processes at micro/macro scale, in the time interval and where, these geological processes take place.

invoked in this course uses an arsenal of methodologies dedicated to multivariate statistical analysis of data, with the ultimate goal: the value of a regionalized variable and the associated uncertainty, at any point in the investigated area.
