Applied Statistics in Ecology (ASE)  study collective phenomena and processes in order to identify the laws governing their manifestation. ASE are structured in various areas according to the processes studied, the statistical study appealing to a vast repertoire of "tools", generaly common for various areas of application .

 Ecological researchs produce a huge volume of data (see:design of monitoring networks) that must be transformed with the help of ASE into conceptual models of ecological processes, support for modeling of ecological  processes.
